Quest is primarily designed for students ages 16 and older who have not been successful in a traditional high school classroom.  Students who have been in high school over four years will receive priority for admittance.

• Behind in course credits
• Currently employed
• Parenting / Pregnant
• Extenuating circumstances (academic, family, and/or health-related)

Recommendations

It is highly recommended that applicants have:

• At least 12.0 credits prior to entering the program
• Passed all sections of STAAR
• Been successful with Algebra and Geometry
• Self-motivation and discipline to exceed the minimal program requirements
• Transportation to and from the academy

Important Note: Quest is NOT traditionally designed for early graduation purposes. Students are expected to graduate with their original high school cohort unless approved by the counselor and high school campus.  Students who are successfully advancing through the program and have been successful on state exams may be eligible for an early graduation with approval. 

Welcome to SMSD Disciplinary Alternative Education Program! It is the intent of the Stafford Municipal School District to maintain an atmosphere which is conducive to learning. When that atmosphere is disrupted or threatened by adverse student behavior, or when a student persistently violates the rules, this conduct may be deemed inappropriate, and the student will be placed in DAEP.  The grading policy for DAEP is the same as their home campus.

DAEP is designed as a last step in Stafford MSD to correct a student’s behavior. Students are given opportunities to change their behavior and maintain their class-work. Students are expected to follow the rules while assigned to DAEP.

Completed applications should be returned to Principal Allen's office in SHS room 604 near the STEM Magnet Academy. Applications must be thoroughly completed or they will be returned to the student. A Quest committee member will contact the parent/guardian listed on the application once the paperwork has been submitted and reviewed.
