Congratulations to our Stafford Spartans Basketball Team

Advancing to the Conference 4A State Semifinals!

They have won 19 consecutive games. Their most recent loss came during the week between Christmas and New Year's. Therefore, they are undefeated in the 2020 portion of their season. One of their losses came against 5A Fort Bend Hightower, which has qualified for the 5A State Tournament. This is Stafford's seventh trip to the State Semifinals. Each team, they have emerged out of Region 4. Stafford has reached the State Finals just once, winning State in 1992.

This is Stafford's first trip to the State Tournament since 2010. Their previous six trips to State were as a 3A Program. When the UIL added 6A in 2014, Stafford went from 3A to 4A.

This will be Stafford's first trip to the State Basketball Tournament in San Antonio. The six previous trips included the State Tournament at UT-Austin.

Stafford senior basketball player Cameron Peters has signed with the UT-San Antonio Football Team. He will play college football at the Alamodome, the same place where the UIL 4A Basketball Tournament will be played.

Stafford head coach David Montano will be coaching at State for the third time. He guided La Marque to the State Semifinals twice.

Stafford won its three most recent playoff games by a total of seven points. They overcame a 15-5 deficit to earn a 49-48 win over Boerne in the Regional Championship Game.

In the second round, Stafford defeated a Fredericksburg team that was 33-1 at the time. Fredericksburg's only loss was a 1-point loss to Boerne.
