Cathrine Habervo: 2020-21 District Teacher of the Year

This month the Region 4 Annual Teacher of the Year Luncheon was hosted at the Hilton America's Grand Ballroom. Our very own Spartan alumna and Kindergarten teacher Ms. Cathrine Habervo represented the district with honor and poise as the SMSD District Teacher of the Year from the Stafford Early Childhood Center. Ms. Habervo was joined by Superintendent of Schools Dr. Robert Bostic and Stafford Early Childhood Center Principal Ms. Twyla Hynes to accept the award. She was in the top 10% of 78,000 teachers in the Region 4 area that were eligible for this honor, and we are so excited to welcome her back to the classroom for the 2021-22 school year.

Ms. Habervo said she didn't originally plan to become a teacher, "I actually chose to become a teacher while I was going to school for physical therapy. I was a paraprofessional here, and once I got into the classroom, I just discovered my love and passion for working with children. Seeing those gears turning in their minds gave me that sense of fulfillment."
