I hope you and your families are doing well during these challenging times. As we end the 5th 6 Weeks grading period I wanted to share a brief school update. If you completed a survey for technology support (either laptops or hotspots), please be patient. The district technology staff is continuing to fill these requests. The district has opened a new call center and support webpage to assist with calls from parents and students for online learning support, software support, and technical support. You can call the center at 1-866-507-8433 or visit https://www.staffordmsd.org/academics/stafford-learns for how to documents and training. As we approach the start of the final grading period, it is important that students are completing work so that they can earn their credits towards graduation.
Packet distribution will continue next week for those without access to technology at home. Students will receive one packet containing four weeks of work. Students are encouraged to take pictures of completed assignments and email them directly to their teachers. If this is not possible, pickup and drop-off hours will remain the same. Monday-Wednesday 8-11 and 1-3. SHS is also committed to ensuring that everyone has access to school work during this time. If you cannot access work online and cannot come to the school to pick-up or drop-off a packet, please give us a call at the school, 281-261-9239 so that we can arrange a distribution method that works for your family. The front office phone is answered from 8-noon, Monday through Friday (except on school holidays).
If your child is in an Advanced Placement class more details about AP testing were shared by the College Board last week. You or your child can visit the College Board website at https://apcoronavirusupdates.collegeboard.org/students and their AP class teacher should also be reaching out to them to let them know about the changes and how to prepare for the test.
Finally, I know that this has been a very difficult time for our seniors, and I feel absolutely devastated about the memories that they have already missed out on. Hopefully we will be able to be back together before the end of May. I do have a few announcements regarding Senior Activities. Prom was supposed to take place on May 1st but with the district shut down through May 4 it will not happen on that date. The venue has offered rescheduled dates later in May, but we are waiting to see if the all clear will be given by the state to congregate in large groups before we make any final plans on a rescheduled date. It is our intention to hold Prom if we can do so and it is safe. In addition, we had to go ahead and cancel our Senior Trip to Fiesta Texas on May 21, as they have contacted us to let us know they do not anticipate being open by then. If we are back in school on May 21st, we will be doing something fun with our seniors that day to make up for the missed trip. Refund information from any canceled event will be sent out as soon as we finalize plans for them to be distributed.
