SMSD To No Longer Require Masks On 6/5

Greetings Stafford MSD —

Last week, Governor Abbott issued Executive Order GA-36 prohibiting government entities, including school districts, from mandating masks or restricting activities in response to the COVID-19 disaster.

Effective on Saturday, June 5, 2021, SMSD will no longer require masks to be worn on campus.  Face mask coverings will be optional for students, staff, parents, and visitors. Failure to comply with the order can be punishable by the state of Texas up to $1,000.  Personal choices about wearing a mask is to be respected at all times on campus, whether an individual chooses to wear a mask or if an individual chooses not to wear a mask.

In meantime, we will continue to highly encourage frequent hand washing, check temperatures daily, and maintaining social distancing at 3 feet. We remain dedicated to making informed and current decisions regarding the safety of our campus.

Thank You,
Stafford MSD
