As Stafford MSD continues to navigate the evolving pandemic, and its challenges, we remain committed to making decisions that put safety and education first, while also following guidance from Texas Education Agency (TEA), local and state officials, and the Center for Disease Control (CDC).
FACE MASKS & FACE-TO-FACE LEARNING
At this time, Fort Bend County has not mandated face masks in public schools like SMSD, and we will continue to follow Executive Order GA-38 and all SMSD board-approved COVID-19 protocols. This means we will continue with face-to-face learning, while encouraging face masks for all individuals regardless of vaccination status especially when individuals are indoors or in proximity.
BLENDED LEARNING & REMOTE CONFERENCING
All SMSD students have access to 1 to 1 iPad devices in order to complete learning from school and home. This will assist students who may be under quarantine. In accordance with TEA, SMSD will consider a plan for Remote Conferencing for eligible students for up to 20 days and more information on eligibility can be found at https://tea.texas.gov/sites/default/files/covid/remote-conferencing-faq.pdf.
PPE: DISTRICT-APPROVED PURCHASES AND COMMUNITY DONATIONS
At the Special Called Meeting on August 16, the SMSD Board of Trustees approved purchasing custom masks and hand sanitizers for all students and employees. The district is grateful to numerous community partners and businesses that continue to consider the school district for generous PPE donations.
SMSD has made the decision to keep the COVID-19 dashboard on our website as an information hub. This page will be updated with active cases, employee vaccination rates, and FAQs, which is accessible to all parents, staff and community.
CONTACT TRACING TEAM
The SMSD Contact Tracing team will remain available on campus to support families and staff. This is our first response team on all active cases and exposures. This team works to enforce policies and protocols related to quarantining and testing, as well as providing additional information and resources.
While we understand these decisions may not work for all families, we do ask that you communicate your questions or concerns in a respectful manner with your student’s campus. Our team at SMSD is actively working to support you and your students during this time, and we look forward to facing this challenge together for our Spartans.
