How Was This Package Determined? The SMSD Vision and Planning Facility Task Force, comprised of 30 parents, employees, community and business leaders began meeting in September of 2010 and spent several months reviewing and researching district facility and support operation needs in conjunction with the SMSD Strategic Vision Plan. The committee developed a recommendation which was presented to both the SMSD Board of Trustees and the Stafford City Council. Tax Impact The total tax impact is expected to be approximately 14 cents for every $100 of appraised value, which translates into an increase of $11.33/month for the owner of a $140,000 home. With approval of the bond election, the total tax rate remains one of the lowest of 54 school districts in the greater Houston area. Taxpayers 65 and Older Taxpayers 65 and older who have applied for an exemption did not see an increase in their taxes as a result of this election.
