State Accountability Ratings

The Texas Education Agency issued state accountability ratings in August 2016. SMSD was rated "Met Standard" for the District and all campuses. Distinctions

In 2016, SMSD has earned a total of 22 distinctions out of 29 eligible distinctions in seven possible areas - Student Progress, Closing Performance Gaps, English Language Arts/Reading, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Post-Secondary Readiness. At the campus level 5 out of 5 campuses (100%) earned one or more distinctions for which they were eligible. A list of all campus distinctions is available in the Distinction Designations Summary.

The Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR)

The TAPR report contains the current performance on the TAPR indicators for Stafford MSD and each campus in the District. Accreditation Status

The Texas Education Agency announced accreditation statuses for all Texas school districts and charter schools on February 5, 2016. The assignment of district accreditation statuses I required by Texas Education Code (TEC), Chapter 39, Public School System Accountability, and authorized in 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAXC), Chapter 97, Planning and Accountability, Subchapter EE Accreditation Status, Standards and Sanctions.

The accreditation system examines both the financial and academic health of districts and charter schools. It also examines performance in other areas such as data reporting, special program effectiveness, and compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements. Under the accreditation system, ratings of Accredited, Accredited-Warned, Accredited-Probation, or Not Accredited-Revoked are issued. The status of a district or charter can be listed as pending if an investigation is under way. The TEA website has more information on the TEA Accreditation System.
