The Texas Education Agency (TEA) released its A-F Accountability Ratings on Wednesday.

The Stafford Municipal School District received a ‘B’ rating. We were one of the few Houston-area schools to receive a grade, because many schools received a Hurricane Harvey exemption.

Stafford MSD was affected by Hurricane Harvey, but we were proud of our students’ and staff perseverance and success. We opted to take the Accountability grade.

We also received a ‘B’ in the categories of Student Progress and Closing The Gaps.

It is fitting that this letter grade was released on the first day of classes for 2018-19.

While proud of our grade, we are reminded that we have a long way to achieve our ultimate academic goals.

The Curriculum, Instruction and Assessment (CIA) Team has been instrumental in elevating the District’s academic profile.

We recently made an adjustment that we believe will further that goal – the promotion of two CIA members – Kathryn Leeper and Lakenya Perry-Wilson to Directors of Student Learning.

We are working toward increasing our Reading/Literacy achievement, and each year, we will have more students taking the SAT/ACT exams before they graduate eighth grade at Stafford Middle School.
