STAFFORD VOTERS APPROVE $62 MILLION STAFFORD MSD BOND

BY STAFFORD MSD COMMUNICATIONS

STAFFORD – City of Stafford voters overwhelmingly approved a $62 Million Stafford Municipal School District Bond on Tuesday night.

The Bond, which passed by a 57-to-43 percent margin, will feature:

·       A new Stafford Middle School (Grades 6-through-8) building for 850 students with an cafetorium, library and gymnasium.

·       A new Grades 3-12 Magnet School for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) – the only one of its kind in Fort Bend County.

·       A new Administration Building, including a Visitor’s Center

·       Re-purposing the current Administration Building into a Community Center for all Stafford citizens to use.

·       An Educational Plaza

·       Early Childhood Center, starting with classes for 3 year olds.

“Tuesday’s election victory marked culmination of hard work and dedication from the Administration, Staff, Bond Committee and most of all, the citizens who voiced their confidence in Stafford Municipal School District,” Stafford MSD Superintendent Dr. Robert Bostic said. “The passage of this Bond will deliver a better quality of life for Stafford citizens – regardless of whether they voted in favor of it, against it or abstained.”

Planning on these projects begins immediately, with construction set to start this summer. The Architect for Pre-Bond Planning is Autoarch Architects of Houston, Texas.

The Bond Committee will now transform into the Bond Oversight Committee, which will be tasked with overseeing that the projects are completed successfully and on schedule.

In August, the Stafford City Council voted 6-0 to place the Bond on the ballot.

The Council’s decision was based on a recommendation from the citizens of the Stafford MSD Long Range Facilities Planning Committee (LRFP) and the Stafford MSD Board of Trustees.
