Free meals and other support for displaced students

If your student is homeless or displaced due to Hurricane Harvey, they may be eligible for free meals, transportation, and other services under the McKinney-Vento Act.

The Houston Food Bank and Emergency Food Pantry is also distributing food items to families in need.

If your family suffered property damage or loss as a result of the storm, you are encouraged to register with FEMA to determine if you are eligible for assistance. Also, if you are eligible for Transitional Sheltering Assistance, FEMA will pay for the cost to stay in certain hotels or motels for a limited period of time. Learn more at
