General Information


The Stafford MSD School Board conducts its election jointly with the City of Stafford on the uniform May election date. This year SMSD will hold a general election for the purpose of electing two (2) trustees to serve for 3-year terms ending in May 2020.  Trustees are elected at-large by qualified voters and the candidates receiving the most votes will be elected. Each trustee represents Stafford MSD at large.

The Board of Trustees constists of seven (7) members elected to serve, without compensation, for overlapping terms of three (3) years each. Following the annual election, the board elects a president, vice-president, and secretary to serve for a one-year term. 


Eligibility/Qualifications (Policy BBA Legal)

 
Must be a United States Citizen;

  • 21 years of age or older;
  • Have resided continuously in the City of Stafford for a year;
  • Mentally competent;
  • Resident qualified voter; and
  • Not have been convicted of a felony.

Application Process

 

  • Beginning on January 17, 2017, anyone may pick up a candidate packet from the Stafford MSD Administration Building, 1625 Staffordshire Road, Stafford, TX 77477
  • First Day to File Application for a place on the ballot is Wednesday, January 18, 2017.
  • Last Day to File Application for a place on the ballot is Friday, February 17, 2017, at 5 PM.
  • Completed forms must be filed in the Office of the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent
